Ruselectronics’s bird control system has proved to be effective during the test at Pulkovo International Airport. ORNI system allows to track bird flight at a distance up to 20km, determine the flight direction, altitude and speed as well as to automatically start the bird control systems provided at the air field.
ORNI system was being tested at Pulkovo Airport for more than a year. During the operation period, the system detected birds with high accuracy under any weather conditions, the radar operated in the pre-defined range. The test also has shown that ORNI system did not cause any interference in landing system radio equipment and had no emission. The system did not affected the performance of ground radiotechnical flight support equipment.
“The main benefit of ORNI is in continuous long-range monitoring on a 24/7 basis. The designers were to connect the system with bird scaring equipment and record bird movement in the air field area. Currently, the system allows to record the number of birds and movement direction in the selected range and automatically starts the bird control equipment, e.g. Bioacoustic systems. There are no similar systems in Russia in terms of comprehensive bird hazard monitoring,” said Oleg Madurov, Director of Transport and Air Field Operations, Northern Capital Gateway.
