Rybinsk Instrument Making Plant included in Ruselectronics holding and Yaroslavl State Medical University start working on creation of an ultraviolet laser machine prototype. The equipment may be used to treat artery atherosclerosis — the main cause of disturbed blood circulation and related pathologies, in particular, cardiovascular diseases.
Under the agreement between Rybinsk Instrument Making Plant (RZP) and Yaroslavl State Medical University, the parties will create medical instruments and devices within the import substitution program. Development of an ultraviolet laser prototype for atherosclerotic plaque surgery will be one of the projects.
The project is executed under the contract with the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation. RZP will be the prototype manufacturer, the prototype of the new medical device is to be created within three years.
Artery atherosclerosis plays a leading role in the development of cardiovascular diseases. Cardiovascular events may cause heart attack, stroke, aneurysm and gangrene.
