Rostec Prevented 2.5 Cyberattacks During Universiade

“Avtomatika” Consortium of Rostec Federal Corporation provided information safety of power objects during 29th World Winter Universiade 2019 held in Krasnoyarsk from 1st to 12th of March. In this period huge amount of attempts of cyberattacks of “denial of service” type through external contour of information nets of power objects and attempts of receiving unsanctioned access through local nets were recorded. The set of measures taken by Avtomatika Concortium, a filial company of Atlas Scientific Center jointly with companies of PJSC Rosseti enabled prevention over 2.5 threats.

As examples of cyberattacks specialists name the following: at certain net equipment they noticed attempts to use vulnerablity of web-application, HTTPS-session interception, loading of executed PHP-code to web application, attempts of net scanning and opening SSH ports, etc. In internal contour (local nets) Monitoring Center fixed over 12 thousand of suspect events of data safety. Part of them were crytical and were considered as cyberattacks which were also prevented. After the project was finished, it was noted that no events which might have caused disturbance in work of specialists or energy supply objects of the Universiade were allowed.

Rostec is one of the key players of Russian market of information safety and is intending to become a leader in information safety area of “Digital Economy” national project. In modern world protection of objects of crytical infrastructure from cyberattacks often has no less importance than counter-terrorist measures. Access to such objects from outside may lead for example, to failure of energy supply or other serious consequences which is topical for mass events.

“During Universiade specialists of Monitoring Center prevented over 2.5 threats to information safety which might have lead to equipment failure. Protection measures were taken using domestic equipment and software”, - said Sergey Sahnenko, Industrial Director of Rostec Radio and Electronic Cluster.
