The Federal Service for Supervision in Healthcare has issued an authorization for production and clinical application of a domestically made lithotripter – a new solution of Shvabe holding included in Rostec State Corporation. The apparatus for disintegration of kidney stones with an innovative shock wave generator will substitute similar foreign products.
The Litotripter LT-1 designed by Moskovskij Zavod Sapphir is based on the advanced electromagnetic shock wave generator. Innovative design solutions were used to reduce the shock wave pulse exposure time and to break kidney and ureteral stones from 1.5mm to 10mm in size in an extracorporeal manner.
Clinical testing has proved high performance of the urology device and reduced morbidity during treatment. Thus, the Litotripter LT-1 will be able to replace similar foreign products on the Russian market and increase treatment efficacy by means of breaking smaller stones.
The extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL) is a procedure that uses directed ultrasonic waves to disintegrate urinary system stones. The method does not need surgical intervention, insertion of catheters and other devices into the urogenital system and is the most sparing treatment for patients. After breaking, the stone is disintegrated into fine fragments that are painlessly removed from the body in the natural way.
