Rostec Completes Acceptance Trial of "Lotos" Self-propelled Artillery Gun

The Central Scientific Research Institute of Precision Engineering (TsNIITochMash) of Rostec State Corporation has completed acceptance tests of the 120-mm self-propelled "Lotos" artillery gun (index 2S42). The combat vehicle for airborne troops has confirmed compliance with specified tactical and technical characteristics.

The 57-point test program made it possible to assess the performance of all units, mechanisms and instruments of the weapon. During the tests the "Lotos" covered 400km and fired 14 shots. Military experts from TsNIITochMash signed an official document on the compliance of the prototype of the self-propelled gun with the working design documentation and readiness for preliminary tests.

“The airborne amphibious self-propelled “Lotos” gun proved to be excellent in the course of the completed acceptance tests. The combat vehicle fully meets the requirements for weight and size characteristics and at the same time has an impressive speed, rate of fire and range of fire. We expect that the next stage - preliminary tests - will begin this year”, said Bekkhan Ozdoev, industrial director of Rostec State Corporation.

"Lotos" self-propelled gun carries a mass of not more than 18 tons, maximum speed of 70 km/h and engine power of 450 hp. Its cruising range exceeds 500 km. The combat crew consists of four people. The firing range is up to 13 km.

The self-propelled gun was created on a chassis based on the BMD-4M infantry fighting vehicle, equipped with a fighting compartment with a 120-mm gun with a high degree of automation of preparation and firing operations.
