Rostec and Pirelli Keep Upgrading Kirov Tyre Plant

The governor of the Kirov oblast Igor Vasilyev had a meeting with representatives of Pirelli Tyre Russia and Rostec State Corporation. The parties discussed the possibilities for the future development of the Kirov Tyre complex which is a part of the enterprise co-owned by the international company Pirelli and Rostec.

Pirelli is one of the world's largest hi-end tyre producers.

The Kirov Tyre Plant together with the Voronezh Tyre Plant have become a part of an enterprise co-owned by the international company Pirelli and Rostec State Corporation.

The agreement to create a co-owned tyre company was signed in November 2008, and in 2011 the State Corporation and Pirelli bought out Kirov Tyre Plant's assets.

In 2017, the production of passenger car tires was spun off into a separate entity - OJSC Manufacturing Unit 'Kirov Tyre'.

Kirov Tyre Plant, JSC, continued manufacturing special purpose tyres.

According to Aimone di Savoia-Aosta, the cumulate investment in the Kirov venture since 2011 is ₽8.5 billion.

'We are keeping this tendency up.

Due to Pirelli's capabilities, we managed to export our products even during the recess and the contraction of the market.

We managed to keep every production level and also to avoid any job cuts.

We are happy that we found support from the regional authorities.

The venture has the capacity and the desire to continue developing this collaboration,' claimed the CEO of Pirelli Tyre Russia.

'We discussed with the company representatives the development course for the nearest future: there will be more investments and new product items.

60% of the tyres manufactured on the Kirov Tyre plant will be exported which is an important point in today's conditions.

The citizens of the region and the employees of the venture can be sure that the plant has a future.' Igor Vasilyev summarized the results of the meeting.

Today Kirov Tyre produces millions of passenger car tyres sized 13 to 16 inches under the bran Pirelli including the Green Performance series, tyres that have minimal environmental impact.

Like it was announced before, by 2021 it is planned to start the production of new 17-inch tyres.

The plant has been certified and manufactures tyres for Russian offices of such companies as Volkswagen, Skoda, KIA, Renault, AvtoVAZ.

Tyres produced by Kirov Tyre are included in the standard configurations for such cars as Lada Vesta, Lada X-Ray, Chevrolet Niva, UAZ Patriot.
