KAMAZ and KUKA signed a global strategic cooperation agreement at the Automatica-2018 exhibition. The document lays the foundation for implementation of the integrated robotic application and automation of KAMAZ production facilities and takes the cooperation of two companies to a new global level.

The agreement was signed by Sergey Kogogin, CEO of KAMAZ, and Stefan Lampa, CEO of KUKA Division Industries. Apart from the previously made arrangements, the newly signed global agreement grants exclusive conditions to the Russian car company after the purchase of industrial robots, access to the world's competence centres and advanced technologies of KUKA. The scope of supply of industrial robots to the KAMAZ components' assembly and production facilities will depend on the customer's needs.

"Market launch of next-generation cars, development of energy-efficient vehicles for long-distance and city traffic, and many other fields being successfully developed by our experts would have not been possible without investments into production and deployment of advanced equipment," noted Sergey Kogogin. "The key to successful production is mainly determined by the technique and technologies, therefore, we need cooperation with the leaders of the industrial robotics sector, including our old partner KUKA, to further develop and strengthen of the company's market positions."

Sergey Kogogin also emphasised that efficiency of cooperation between KAMAZ and KUKA is time-proven, and the agreement signed in Munich has become another step towards business development and strengthening of the strategic cooperation of the parties.

When signing the agreement, Stefan Lampa commented as follows: "Our companies have been implementing joint projects for deployment of next-generation robotic systems at the auto giant's enterprises for more than 25 years. We highly appreciate our cooperation with KAMAZ, and we are interested in providing support to the leading companies in Russia that meet the modern digital standards of the Industry 4.0 concept."

KUKA is a leading supplier of industrial robots. First robots of this company were installed at KAMAZ facilities more than 25 years ago. The current stage of the company's development required installation of next-generation robots. For example, heavy-duty KUKA welding cells were installed on the welding line for cabins of the new model range launched at the press and stamping plant in 2015. They ensure high efficiency and quality diagnostics in automatic mode. Besides, KUKA robots are installed at the KAMAZ auto plant and engine plant.
