Kaliningrad Amber Combine to Sell 20 Large Nuggets by Public Auction

The Kaliningrad Amber Combine will put up for sale 20 large mineral nuggets each weighing over one kilogram for sale by public auction held at the 3rd International Economic Forum of Amber Industry Amberforum. The auction will take place on June 7-10, 2018 in Svetlogorsk.

According to the Company’s press service, the auction is open for Russian and foreign legal and physical persons alike.

There will be 20 lots for sale, each consisting of a large stone weighing over 1 kilogram. According to auction documentation, the largest nugget weighs 1 kg 792 grams, and its dimensions are 190x180x85 mm. The starting price for this lot is RUB 480,000. The starting price of the most expensive nugget weighing 1 kg 290 grams is RUB 813,000.

As previously reported, the Kaliningrad Amber Combine mined 19 large nuggets in 2017. Besides, one of these stones weighs 3 kg 180 g. This finding became a 30-year record. This year, large amber nuggets were first mined in March. These were two unique nuggets each weighing slightly more than one kilogram.

The Kaliningrad Amber Combine is the world’s largest commercial amber production plant. The Combine mined 250-300 tons of stones on average in the recent years, and it set a 453-ton record in 2017. The plans are to raise this figure up to 500 tons by 2020.
