Russian Team Finished First at the WorldSkills World Championship

 

44th WorldSkills Abu Dhabi-2017 Championship in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates, has come to its end. The Russian national team finished first in the overall team rating by winning 11 medals and 21 medallions for professionalism. Our team came fifth in the overall medal standings.

1,300 competitors from 77 states rivalled for the title of best professionals. They demonstrated their skills and knowledge in 52 competences, and at least one member of the Russian team participated in each of them. Our athletes finished first in the overall team rating: the Russian national team won 11 medals and 21 medallions. Most of them were golden – 6 medals. Other prizes included 4 silver medals and 1 bronze medal.

Besides, members of the Russian team won 21 medallions – awards to those who has completely finished the task and showed proper average professional qualification.

This is the third time the Russian team participated in the world professional skills championship. They made their debut in 2013 in Leipzig and during their second championship in São Paulo in 2015 Russian team won six medallions. Thus, this year's result is the best of all times.

During the grand closing ceremony the championship's flag was handed over to the Russian team as Russia will host the next, 45th, championship to be held in Kazan from 29 August to 3 September 2019.
