An auditor from Rolls-Royce has visited VSMPO-AVISMA

 

An auditor from Rolls-Royce visited VSMPO-AVISMA Corporation to examine the titanium giant’s manufacturing of innovative products, namely six forgings for a new engine series.

Two of the titanium giant’s shops produced the new instruments for Rolls-Royce.

Over the course of two weeks, the auditor from Rolls-Royce, Robert Scherbaum, oversaw the forging of five discs in shop number 21 with a press force of 30 tons. The sixth disc will be forged during the next planned visit of Robert Scherbaum to VSMPO-AVISMA, scheduled for July.

As this was Robert Scherbaum’s first visit to Russia and VSMPO-AVISMA, he was shown the main production shops of the enterprise, including the laboratories of the Research and Development Center and the shop for machining forgings of the joint venture Ural Boeing Manufacture.

The guest was also invited to tour Nizhny Tagil and visit the armored vehicles museum of Uralvagonzavod, according to RIA Federa lPress.

In late 2011, VSMPO-AVISMA signed three long-term contracts with Rolls-Royce The Russian corporation agreed to supply products worth $250 million by 2015.

VSMPO-AVISMA Corporation is the world's largest titanium producer and features a full production cycle, from raw material processing to finished products with a high degree of machining. The corporation employs around 20,000 people. It is a world-leader for the production of titanium products. VSMPO-AVISMA management owns a controlling stake in the corporation, and Rostec owns a block package of 25% plus one share.
