Sales of the Lada Kalina with automatic transmission have begun

AVTOVAZ has begun selling its Lada Kalina with automated manual transmission (AMT). The first cars ready for sale were presented to the public at Lada’s exhibit at the Moscow stage of the WTCC international championship.

The Lada Kalina AMT comes equipped with a 106-horsepower, 16-valve engine. This is currently the most advanced modern engine equipped with dynamic boost. This system provides increased traction at low engine speeds. The Lada Kalina AMT package also comes with a climate system, ABS, audio system, heated exterior mirrors and front seats, and improved sound insulation.

The price of an automobile with the new modifications starts at 472,000 rubles. The Lada Kalina Cross, which also comes equipped with AMT, starts at 502,000 rubles.

Lada AMT is Russia’s first automatic transmission for passenger cars. The system was developed in close cooperation with experts from the world-famous company ZF and combines the advantages of both automatic and manual transmissions. By carefully selecting control programs, the Lada AMT transmission provides additional fuel savings (10% compared with manual transmission and 30% compared with automatic transmission) and increases the life of the vehicle.

In developing the Lada AMT, designers accounted for the use of the vehicle in Russian driving conditions. The transmission will continue to work in temperatures as low as -55 degrees and can be used to tow other vehicles. Moreover, the Lada AMT will enable the automobile to free itself if it becomes stuck in the ground.
