During the Farnborough Air Show, hosted in England, the Russian titanium corporation VSMPO-AVISMA signed a number of contracts and agreements with leaders of the world aviation market, including SAFRAN, Aernnova Aerospace, Bombardier Aerospace, Airbus, and Figeac Aero.
For Airbus, VSMPO-AVISMA will supply forgings and side panels for A320neo aircraft engine pylons. The first deliveries under this contract will begin in 2015. Additionally, the Russian companies will begin constructing machinery for the A350 XWB aircraft. VSMPO-AVISMA has been a leading supplier of titanium for Airbus since the 1990s. The company currently supplies titanium forgings for several Airbus aircraft, including the A380.
SAFRAN, the leading French manufacturer of engines, has reached a long-term agreement with VSMPO-AVISMA for the supply of titanium plates for the construction of the edges of LEAP engine fan blades. Revenue from this agreement is expected to reach $50 million.
The agreement with Bombardier Aerospace (Belfast, Northern Ireland) contracts VSMPO-AVISMA to convert the current set of titanium forgings for C-Series aircraft wings to a hard-lined model. The signing of the agreement between the two companies signals an important step toward further developing their mutually beneficial cooperation. The companies are also exploring opportunities to expand cooperation further by increasing orders with a high degree of mechanical processing.
VSMPO-AVISMA and Aernnova Aerospace agreed on technical, commercial, and organizational aspects for the supply of titanium forgings used in constructing the horizontal tail fin of the A350-1000 aircraft. The companies also reached an understanding on expanding the existing agreement for the same forgings for the A350-900 aircraft. The agreements last through 2020 and are seen by both companies as an important step in advancing their mutually beneficial business relationship.
Among other things, VSMPO-AVISMA and the German company PFW Aerospace GmbH, which manufactures pipes and ventilation systems for the aerospace industry, signed a long-term agreement for the supply of seamless titanium pipes. VSMPO-AVISMA also extended its contract with the aircraft manufacturing concern Boeing to supply titanium products through 2020 in accordance with current annual volumes.
