NPO Saturn to equip the Russian ships with engines

 

Yuri Shmotin, general engineer of the company, reported during the International Forum of Engine Building that the Research and Production Association Saturn (NPO Saturn) of Rybinsk signed up an order to manufacture gas turbines for the Russian Navy ships.

According to Interfax, Yuri Shmotin said, “Today, we have the State task to equip the Russian boats with our motors that have passed the State tests".

It is referred to the M70 and M75 turbines. These engines are designed for both Navy ships, and civilian ships, marine and coastal gas plants.
Together with the Petersburg Design Bureaus, Severnaya Verf and Almaz, a serious work was carried out and the technical requirements were formed for the adaptation of engines manufactured by NPO Saturn for the Russian Navy ships.

Yuri Shmotin said that the Almaz Design Bureau is working actively in engines for aerial-sliding landing crafts, as well as in other researches.

Until now, mass production of the the gas turbine engines for the Russian fleet ships was organized only in the territory of Ukraine.

The Research and Production Association Saturn is a manufacturing engines company, which specializes in design, manufacture and after sales service of gas turbine engines for civil and military aircraft, Navy ships, generators of energy and pumping facilities. It is part of the United Engine Corporation.
