KAMAZ is preparing for the transition to nautral gas

Representatives of KAMAZ took part in a meeting between the President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and executives from the Spanish company Ros Roca Group/INDOX. The parties discussed issues surrounding the separation and collection of solid waste as well as the use of public transport, trucks and agricultural machinery that are powered by natural gas.

Ros Roca Group presented proposals for garbage collection and the use of liquefied natural gas for fueling vehicles to the country's leader, according to the portal Ladaonline.ru.

Rustam Minnikhanov noted that Gazprom in partnership with the government of Tatarstan is developing the project for transitioning to natural gas. The Spanish company will assist the project by providing equipment and technology.

KAMAZ is part of the project's working group. In particular, it plans to transition KAMAZ trucks and CNH agricultural machinery that are produced at the plant to natural gas. The company may carry out the project on a trial basis.

Within the next 5 years Tatarstan plans to transition all of its public transport and utility equipment to natural gas. New gas filling stations and infrastructure will be built as part of the project.

KAMAZ has already started the production of natural-gas vehicles as well as buses that run on compressed natural gas. If the business can increase its volume of production, then the company will equip its services with stations that can dispense natural gas for vehicles.

KAMAZ is Russia's largest producer of commercial vehicles. It includes more than 150 companies located in Russia, the CIS and outside the former Soviet Union, including 12 major automobile manufacturing plants. It has assembly plants in Vietnam, Iran, India, Kazakhstan and Pakistan. The company employs more than 59,000 people.
