Russian Helicopters Displaying New Models

Russian Helicopters Holding Company has brought helicopter models relevant for South-East Asia and the Pacific Rim to LIMA 2013 Exhibition running in Malaysia from March 26 through March 30. The Holding Company will also present a program for using its helicopters for search and rescue operations.

The strong, growing ASEAN markets, including Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Philippines, offer very promising opportunities for promotion of Russian rotary-wing aircraft and associated equipment, Russian Helicopters experts believe. At LIMA 2013 Exhibition, the Holding Company is displaying helicopter models relevant for the  region: the multi-role Mil Mi-171A1, the newly upgraded Mil Mi-171A2, the Kamov Ka-32A11VS with coaxial rotors, the new medium multi-role Kamov Ka-62 and Ansat light helicopter, Russian Helicopters’ press service reports.

Mil Mi-171A1 and Mi-171A2 are based on the well known Mil Mi-8/Mi-17 helicopter series, different variants of which are currently in operation in more than 110 countries around the world. Mil Mi-171A1 is a commercial multi-role passenger/cargo transport helicopter that meets the stringent FAR-29 international standards.

The new multi-role Mil Mi-171A2 is a deeply modified variant of the Mi-8/Mi-17. The new helicopter’s airframe includes state-of-the-art materials. Russian Helicopters’ experts believe Mi-171A2 may become the most efficient variant yet in the venerable helicopter series.

The medium multi-role Kamov Ka-32A11VS helicopter’s unique performance and capabilities make it ideal for a broad range of missions, including fire-fighting, cargo transportation, evacuation and rescue, as well as patrol missions.

The advanced multi-role Kamov Ka-62 helicopter enjoys a lot of attention from prospective corporate customers. Although its first test flights are scheduled for 2013, with airworthiness certificate expected in 2014, the Brazilian operator Atlas Táxi Aéreo has placed an order for seven Ka-62s. The Ka-62 meets a very high fuel efficiency standard.

The light multi-role Ansat helicopter is in one of the most popular helicopter categories with lifting capacity under 1.5 metric tons. Ansat features the most spacious passenger/cargo cabin in its class, which can be configured for both passenger (including VIP) and cargo transportation, as well as for search-and-rescue and Medevac missions.

In addition, the Holding Company will hold meetings to present a program of possible future uses for its helicopters and equipment for search and rescue missions geared towards ASEAN members, as well as Japan, Canada and China.
