Rostec supplies the first consignment of communications system 'invisible' to electronic warfare

Press release
January 26, 2017

Rostec has supplied a large consignment of machinery comprising R-430 radio relay system to the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. The equipment supports the establishment of protected networking and communications at a length of up to 1,500 km, efficiently operates in dense threat or jamming environment. It is practically invulnerable to enemy's electronic warfare.

Concern Sozvezdie (member of the Rostec Corporation Group) is responsible for the development and series manufacture of the product. R-430 passed state testing and demonstrated high protection against electronic intelligence and warfare. The equipment requires no live operator for remote monitoring and control of telecommunication circuit, and ensures uninterrupted high-quality communication.

The system consists of several types of cross-country communication vehicles. The functionalities and performance characteristics of the system have been expanded on account of new coding methods, simultaneous operation in two frequency ranges and use of a quick erect antenna mast. Each station comprises satellite navigation equipment (GLONASS and GPS) and a VHF radio transceiver for service communications.

Dedicated software uses electronic map to calculate energy losses in any alignment and, therefore, selects optimum location for vehicles and stations. In the event of signal quality degradation, the system will select an alternative data transfer path automatically. The equipment may be installed on both fixed facilities and wheeled or tracked vehicles, thus, enabling prompt establishment of a unified radio relay system for all levels of command.

Digital stations of the system may also be used in hard-to-reach places or in severe climatic conditions, for instance in mining or oil production. Due to its resistance to temperatures (from -50 to +50 °С), R-430 may be used both in southern and Arctic regions.

R-430 system was accepted for supplies to the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation in January 2016.
