The Tank Biathlon-2018 contest ended. It lasted place from July 28 to August 11 at the Alabino range in the Moscow region as part of the International Army Games. The Russian team that was driving the T-72B3 tanks, produced by Rostec State Corporation-owned Uralvagonzavod, took the first place with the following result: 1 hour 29 minutes 55 seconds. Tankers from China finished second with a lag of more than 10 minutes. Representatives of Belarus came third, and their timing was of 1 hour 42 minutes 35 seconds.

This year, 23 national teams – a record breaking number – came to demonstrate their skills of combat vehicle operation. The winner was determined by the results of individual races and relay races. Tankers were to overcame fording, hills, walls, minefields, other obstacles and, of course, kill targets.

Alexander Potapov, CEO of Uralvagonzavod, noted the high efficiency and quality of UVZ vehicles: “Army Games is the greatest event and the Tank Biathlon is the most interesting part of them. However, the main thing is the equipment made by the hands of Tagil people. I feel pride and joy that we have such wonderful people who produce those wonderful tanks. We should be proud of working at Uralvagonzavod”.

“No other tank in the world but for ours is capable of withstanding such a race. Crews’ performance was the key factor of some picked teams’ inability to cross the finish line. A tank needs to be loved and prepared, then it will not let you down!" summed up Major General Roman Binyukov, Chief Judge of the contest. 50 specialists of UVZ Corporation, 16 out of them being from Uralvagonzavod, prepared T-72B3 tanks for the biathlon and provided technical support during the competition.
