Shvabe's Representatives Visited Hitachi Corporation

A delegation of the Shvabe holding company, a member of the Rostec State Corporation, made a working visit to the headquarters of Hitachi Ltd. in Tokyo and the Hokkaido University in Sapporo. The business trip was dedicated to construction of high-tech proton therapy centres for treatment of cancer in Russia.

The parties discussed the details of their cooperation as part of the project for construction of proton therapy centres in Russia, including staff training and transfer of medical technologies from Japan to Russia. At the end of the meeting a decision was made to continue the negotiations regarding the spheres of cooperation.

"Today, there are about 60 proton therapy centres in the world. In Russia, this advanced cancer therapy is hardly developed, despite the fact that millions of Russians suffer from oncological diseases. In cooperation with Japan, one of the first countries to have introduced the proton therapy as a clinical practice, we expect to build at least four high-performance centres in the Russian regions as soon as possible." – noted Alexey Patrikeev, the General Director of Shvabe.

While in Japan, the holding company's delegation reviewed the experience in implementing similar projects for development and construction of proton therapy centres by Hitachi Ltd., one of the three leading companies in this sphere.

Shvabe announced implementation of the project for construction of proton therapy centres in September last year. The first medical institution is expected to commence its operations by 2022 in the Primorsky Krai. High-performance centres will also be built in Novosibirsk, Moscow, Obninsk and other cities.
