Rostec Increases Volumes of Medical Equipment and Vaccines Import Substitution

 

Sergey Chemezov, General Director of the Rostec State Corporation, declared that the import substitution programme in the healthcare sector was being implemented for a wide range of directions – from development of own manufacturing of medical equipment and expendables to production of pharmaceuticals and vaccines as part of the National Preventive Vaccine Calendar.

During the Biotechmed 2017 conference being held in Gelendzhik Sergey Chemezov commented upon the interim results of the import substitution programme in the healthcare sector being implemented by Rostec. "Today, 95% of vaccines used as part of the National Preventive Vaccine Calendar, are produced by Russian companies, and 70% of them are made using the capacities of our holding company, National Immunobiological Company", told Sergey Chemezov.

High-tech equipment for diagnostics, surgery, cardiology, carcinology, ophthalmology and other spheres of medicine is being developed as part of the programmes of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Healthcare and the Ministry of Education in cooperation with scientific institutions and health clinics.

For example, medical equipment of Schwabe, which is mainly reanimation and intensive care equipment, has already replaced foreign equivalents in 700 healthcare institutions of Russia.
