Zhukovsky Airport Commenced Regular Airline Service to Rome

 

Zhukovsky Airport commenced regular airline service to Rome. The Italian capital became the first Western European city that will be connected with the Zhukovsky Airport by regular flights. The flights are operated by Ural Airlines.

According to the airline company's media office, in September the flights to Rome are being operated once a week, on Fridays. "Departure from Zhukovsky at 08:30 a.m., departure from Rome at 12:20 p.m. local time. Airborne time is 3 hours 40 minutes", says the press release. In the nearest future the flights' frequency is expected to increase to two flights per week. The flights are operated by A-320 airliners.

As was previously said by Deputy General Director of Ramport Aero, the management company of the Zhukovsky Airport, Evgeny Solodilin the number of international airline services would grow. "Today, we are in negotiations regarding 25-30 new flight connections", he was quoted by Interfax as saying.

The Zhukovsky Airport opened in spring 2016 is located on the Ramenskoe Airfield 23 km from the capital and has the longest (5,500 m) runway in Europe Ramport Aero, a joint venture of TEC-Russia (a Rostec company) and the international aviation holding company Avia Solutions Group.
