In September, 2011 KAMAZ and one of the world biggest bus-manufacturers, Brazilian Marcopolo S.A., signed an agreement concerning mini-buses manufacturing joint-venture establishment in Neftekamsk on the parity basis.
The JV was set up in order to produce and deliver Marcopolo buses equipped with KAMAZ running gear and meeting the Euro-4 requirements and the needs of modern Russian and CIS passenger carriage. The venture is located on the premises of KAMAZ subsidiary, Neftekamsk Automobile Plant. The plant is expected to produce approx. 3 thousand buses by 2016.
The JV is focused on environmentally compliant and safe buses of the future manufacturing.
In 2011 the first KAMAZ and Marcopolo small class bus sample was presented at the COMTRANS, largest Russian, CIS and Eastern Europe trucks, buses and special machinery show. The sample meets Euro-4 requirements and is equipped with Cummins engine, ZF transmission, Daimler axis pins and axles and Knorr-Bremse brake system.
The JV is estimated to boost KAMAZ share price. The sales geography is being expanded through entering the markets of Saudi Arabia, India, Chile, Nicaragua, Iran, Sudan, Afghanistan, Angola and resuming shipments to Venezuela and Panama.
