VRT300: Russian Drone for Civil Use

A helicopter-type drone VRT300 was presented at Russian International Space and Aviation Show MAKS-2017. VRT300 is the first Russian helicopter-type drone designed for civil purposes.

VRT300 model is available in two basic modifications. VRT300 Arctic Supervision – a machine designed for ice reconnaissance and operation in Arctic conditions; and VRT300 Opticvision – a model with extended flight range for monitoring and remote sensing.

Among the priority tasks for VRT300 Arctic Supervision drone are the development of the Northern Sea Route transportation system and Arctic exploration assistance. To aid those purposes the machine is equipped with in-board side looking X-band radio locator of high resolution that enables to efficiently monitor the ice conditions. Equipped with a powerful diesel engine and optionally operated off a vessel helicopter deck, the machine is the best choice to be used at ice-breakers and drilling platforms.

Due to a high loading capacity of up to 70 kilograms VRT300 Arctic Supervision drone could be used for transportation of food supplies and medical supplies from a vessel to a polar station and in the opposite direction. The machine could also be successfully used for assessment of ice thickness, search and rescue operations on the open sea, ice reconnaissance for possible location of polar stations and other purposes.

VRT300 Opticvision modification with extended flight range is designed for monitoring, prevention and elimination of emergency situations in oil and gas mining and transportation operations. It can also be used for inspection of overhead electrical power lines, freeways and road infrastructure, environment monitoring, cargo transportation, find and rescue operations and other related purposes.
