Shvabe's "Smart" Guide

Shvabe's "Smart" Guide

Shvabe, a holding of Rostec State Corporation, has created a technologically advanced system for pedestrian navigation within the federal program “Safe City” and the preparations for the World Cup in Russia. According to the developers, the information stele will not only help foreign visitors to find their way around the city, but also become the source of the main news on the 2018 World Cup.

The system consists of a touch-screen terminal. Graphic details, fonts and other elements allow to easily scale and adapt the navigation system to work with various city systems. For instance, the device contains a tourist map with signs for nearby streets, public transport stops, and cultural and entertainment facilities.

In addition, the system provides data on the weather and attractions and can be used to call a taxi or book a hotel room. And all this information is available both in Russian and English, with a version for visually impaired people.

Unlike foreign prototypes that provide only reference information, the domestic counterpart can be equipped with an emergency call button, which allows to contact the police and other services in case of emergency.

In addition, there is a 24-hour audio and video recording system for monitoring of public space, as well as a Wi-Fi spot and a USB hub for mobile device charging.

This information stele was installed in the center of Yekaterinburg in late 2017, where anyone can test it. It is expected that in June this year the Shvabe's "smart" guide will simplify the city navigation for foreign guests. As you know, Yekaterinburg will host thousands of guests of the World Cup in the summer. The stele was installed near the Ekaterinburg Arena stadium, where four matches will be held. The equipment will become a permanent city object and will continue to serve its residents and guests after the end of the Cup. According to the developers, the “smart” guide will appear in other regions of Russia.
