United Engine Corporation (UEC) is an integrated structure manufacturing engines for military and civil aviation, space programs, units of various capacity to generate electrical and thermal energy, gas compressor units and ship-borne gas-turbine units. JSC UEC Management Company is a 100% subsidiary of Oboronprom, a part of Rostec. UEC employs over 70,000 people, andhe company is headed by Alexander Artyukhov.
Engine companies located in different Russian regions were failing to meet the needs of the domestic aircraft industry during the last decade. Major challenges involved immediate technical upgrading of the sector, management system restructuring and creating conditions to increase production volumes. United Engine Corporation was established in December 2007 to meet this challenge and consolidated over 85% of the research and technical potential of Russia’s engine manufacturing sector.
The company’s strategic objective is to rebuild and support modern engineering ideas in the gas turbine sector by developing and maintaining the series production of sophisticated engines with competitive advantages ion the global engine market. Today, UEC has consolidated almost all of intellectual and industrial resources of the sector. This enables the company to both manufacture engines and to competitively develop domestic products thanks to a unified engineering center.
In future, UEC intends to join the list of five global leaders in engine manufacturing. The company’s current customers include Rosneft, Rosatom and Roscosmos.
The company has a primary focus of designing products which will be in demand among domestic and foreign aircraft manufacturers in the next decade. UEC manufactures PD-14 aircraft engines, new generation military engines for PAC FA, helicopter engines and other units.
The company has designed and launched the mass production of new 60-110 MV gas turbine units.
UEC pursues cooperation with leading international engine manufacturers. For example, Saturn Research and Production Association, part of UEC, is committed to planned development of programmes to design and manufacture SaM146 engines for regional long-range aircraft in cooperation with Snecma, in France. Such engines are installed on the Sukhoy-Superjet 100 aircrafts. The company established the system to support customers and provide aftersale services in Russia and France. The company obtained certification and runs training centers for specialists who ensure the perfect condition of SaM146 engines.
