Yuriy Borisov

Deputy Defence Secretary of Russian Federation








Born on December 31, 1956 in Vyshny Volochek, Tver region (former Kalinin region). 


In 1974 graduated from Suvorov Military School of Kalinin region.

In 1978 graduated from Pushkin Higher Command School of Radioelectronics of Air Defence.

In 1985 graduated from the Lomonosov Moscow State University, Computing Mathematics and Cybernetics faculty.

Mr Borisov has a PhD in Engineering


1978–1998 – USSR Armed Forces. 

1998–2004 – CEO of scientific-technical centre ‘Module’.

2004–2007 – CEO of the Federal Industry Agency Radio-Electronic Industry and Control Systems.

2007–2008 –Deputy CEO of the Federal Industry Agency.

2008–2011 – Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry.

2011–2012 – Russian government first Deputy Chairman of Military-Industrial Cooperation.

2012–present – Deputy Defence Secretary of Russian Federation.


Rewarded with the Order for Service to the Fatherland (3 class) in the Armed Forces of the USSR and medals.


Mr Borisov is married and has two children.
